Laundry Steam Generator: Water and Utilities Checklist

A practical checklist for commercial laundry buyers preparing a steam generator inquiry, covering steam demand, water quality, electrical supply, drainage, installation space, and quotation details.

Commercial laundry steam generator projects are usually selected from several site details, not from equipment power alone. Before requesting a quotation, buyers should collect information about washer extractors, dryers, ironing equipment, water source, water treatment, electrical supply, drainage, operating schedule, and installation conditions. This checklist gives overseas buyers a practical way to prepare those details for discussion.

1. List the laundry equipment that needs steam

Start with the machines or steam-use points that will connect to the steam generator. Useful details include the type of equipment, quantity, working schedule, whether several machines operate at the same time, and whether steam is needed for washing, ironing, drying, finishing, cleaning, or another process. If steam demand is not yet confirmed, share the equipment list and operating plan for review.

2. Confirm water source and basic water quality

Laundry sites can use municipal water, well water, stored water, or another supply arrangement. The water source affects both steam equipment operation and laundry process quality. If available, send hardness, TDS, suspended solids, iron, conductivity, or a recent water report. If those details are not available, at least identify the water source and whether scale, staining, or existing water-treatment problems have been observed.

3. Decide whether water treatment should be discussed

A laundry steam project may need a water softener, reverse osmosis system, filtration, or another pretreatment arrangement depending on raw-water condition and application details. Do not assume one fixed treatment package is suitable for every site. For quotation on request, share the raw-water details, daily working hours, steam equipment requirements, and whether treated water is also needed for washing, rinsing, boiler feed, or process use.

4. Check electrical supply and site utilities

Before final equipment selection, confirm voltage, phase, frequency, available electrical capacity, cable route, grounding arrangement, water inlet, drainage route, ventilation, and safe access for inspection. Overseas buyers should also check local electrical and installation requirements with qualified site personnel before ordering or commissioning equipment.

5. Prepare layout and installation information

Useful preparation materials include equipment-room photos, approximate floor space, doorway and handling dimensions, steam-pipe route, distance to laundry machines, drainage position, and whether the site has restrictions on noise, heat, water discharge, or maintenance access. These details help avoid quotation assumptions that may not fit the real installation.

6. Include these details in the inquiry

For a practical quotation, send the laundry equipment list, working schedule, voltage, water source, water-quality details, installation photos if available, and destination country. Liangpu can then discuss a configuration selected by project requirements and confirm which additional details are needed before final quotation.
