Industrial reverse osmosis systems are selected around the raw-water condition, target water use, operating schedule, and upstream pretreatment requirements. For overseas buyers, a clear inquiry helps the supplier review a practical configuration instead of quoting only by nominal flow rate.
1. Raw-water source and basic report
Start with the water source: municipal water, well water, surface water, recovered process water, or another source. If a water-quality report is available, include hardness, TDS, conductivity, turbidity, iron, manganese, chlorine, pH, and any known seasonal variation. If no report is available, explain the source and intended application so the supplier can advise what should be tested before final selection.
2. Target water use
State how the treated water will be used, such as cleaning, rinsing, food-processing support, boiler-feed preparation, pure-water preparation, or general process water. Different uses may require different pretreatment, storage, polishing, or monitoring arrangements, so the target use should be confirmed before discussing quotation details.
3. Pretreatment items to review
Pretreatment is selected by project requirements. Depending on the water condition, a project may need filtration, activated-carbon treatment, water softening, antiscalant dosing, cartridge filtration, or other preparation before the RO unit. The buyer should not assume a single pretreatment layout is suitable for every water source.
4. Capacity and operating schedule
Share the required treated-water flow, daily water volume, peak-use period, storage-tank plan, and daily operating hours. If the process has batch demand, explain when water is needed and whether a storage tank can buffer demand. This helps review whether the system should be quoted by hourly output, daily demand, or a combination of RO output and storage capacity.
5. Site and utility conditions
Include available voltage, phase, frequency, installation-space size, drainage condition, feed-water pressure if known, and destination country. Photos of the equipment room, water inlet, drainage area, and nearby process equipment can help reduce misunderstanding during export quotation review.
6. Information to send with an inquiry
- Raw-water source and water-quality report, if available.
- Target treated-water use and required water quality, if already specified.
- Required hourly output, daily water demand, and operating schedule.
- Existing pretreatment equipment, storage tanks, pumps, or pipelines.
- Available voltage, phase, frequency, drainage, and installation space.
- Destination country and any local compliance or documentation request.
